Dallas is an excellent shipping point to both send and receive. There's 2 benfits for Texans: cheaper delivery from out of state, and well empowered local dealers.
If you need shelving in Texas, you should really try to get it from within the state, simply because it is such a huge retail environment with long shipping points. If you check your local classified ads, you might find someone selling off their old shelves locally, or in a nearby city. In a huge (population-wise) state like Texas, retail stores are always opening and closing...therefore, there is often a store closing sale Also, Texas has many dealers for both new and used shelving; gondola retail and warehouse shelves.
Most are well established dealers who have been in business many years. Often stores will have both gondola and pallet rack, and Texas liquidators will gobble these up. Houston and Dallas will be strong in this area.
Getting shipments from out of state is a viable option. Major, busy highways run right though the state. There's bound to be major hubs for logistics companies in Dallas. Dallas will be a better shipping point than a city like San Antonio or Houston. Highway 20 is a major East West lane, and Dallas is also closer to the nation from a N/S perspective.
If you need to look for dealers out of state, you will find more to your east, from Louisiana to Atlanta.
